A 14-day pilgrimage overland from Kathmandu to Mount Kailash (6,638m) and Lake Manasarovar (4,600m), sacred to Hindu, Buddhist, Jain and Bon traditions alike. After Kathmandu sightseeing and a border crossing into Tibet, the route runs via Saga to the shores of Manasarovar, then completes the three-day Kailash Kora on foot over the Dolma-La Pass (5,630m).
Kathmandu → Nepal–China border → Kerung/Nyalam → Saga → Lake Manasarovar → Darchen → Dirapuk → Dolma-La Pass → Zuthulpuk → Saga → Kerung/Nyalam → Kathmandu.
Airport pickup, hotel transfer and an evening trip briefing over dinner.
Visit Pashupatinath and Guhyeshwari temples, Budhanilkantha and the Boudhanath Stupa, then prepare for the Kailash journey.
A roughly 6-hour scenic drive to Rasuwagadhi or Kodari, whichever border crossing is open.
Cross into Tibet, meet the Chinese guide and drive into the high mountain landscape.
A day of light walks to acclimatize before continuing to higher altitude.
Cross Labung-La Pass (5,050m) and pass Pekhu Tso Lake across the Tibetan plateau to Saga.
A long drive across valleys and sand dunes for the first views of Mount Kailash and the turquoise waters of Lake Manasarovar.
A ritual bath and puja at the lake, then on to Darchen, the starting point for the Kailash Kora.
The first day of the Kailash Parikrama, a walk of about 4 hours via Yamadwar with the best views of Kailash's north face.
The longest and hardest day of the Kora, crossing Dolma-La Pass (5,630m) past Gaurikund before descending to Zuthulpuk.
Finish the parikrama near Darchen, then drive back toward Saga via Lake Manasarovar.
A scenic descent back across the plateau toward the border.
Complete border immigration and customs formalities, then drive back to Kathmandu.
Transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward flight.
