The Land of the Thunder Dragon, priced on Bhutan's Minimum Daily Package tariff — a per-person, per-night fee covering 3-star accommodation, all meals, a licensed guide, internal transport and the government royalty fee. Seven nights across Thimphu, Gangtey, Trongsa, Punakha and Paro, ending with the hike to Taktsang, the Tiger's Nest.
Paro → Thimphu → Gangtey → Trongsa → Punakha → Paro → Taktsang → Paro.
A scenic Himalayan approach into Paro, then on to the capital via Tamchhog Lhakhang, the Kuenselphodrang Buddha viewpoint, the Memorial Chorten and Tashichho Dzong.
A morning hike to Cheri Monastery through the Jigme Dorji Wildlife Sanctuary, a traditional handmade-paper factory, and the weekend market and craft bazaar.
Cross Dochula Pass (3,140m) and its 108 chortens for Himalayan views, then descend into the remote Phobjikha valley, wintering ground of the black-necked crane, below Gangtey Monastery.
A morning walk on the Gangtey Nature Trail past monasteries, villages and crane roosting ground, then on to the Trongsa Museum, built into the historic Ta Dzong watchtower.
Visit Punakha Dzong (1637), between the Mo Chhu and Pho Chhu rivers, then a gentle 30-minute hike across the valley to Chimi Lhakhang, the "temple of fertility" built by the Divine Madman in 1499.
Drive to Paro via Rinpung Dzong, Kyichu Lhakhang — one of Bhutan's two oldest temples, built in the 7th century — and the ruined Drugyel Dzong, with views of Jhomolhari on a clear day.
A five-hour round-trip hike to Taktsang Monastery, clinging to a cliff 800m above the valley — where Guru Rinpoche is said to have flown in on the back of a tigress. Farmhouse visit in the afternoon; optional hot-stone bath.
Early breakfast, then transfer to Paro International Airport.
