Upper Mustang — the former Kingdom of Lo — is one of Nepal's remotest and most restricted regions, settled by Thakali, Gurung and Tibetan communities who still follow Tibetan language and culture. This 4WD jeep tour reaches the walled city of Lo Manthang and its centuries-old monasteries without the multi-week walk, covering the trans-Himalayan rain-shadow landscape of canyons, cave dwellings and 15th-century gompas by vehicle.
Kathmandu → Pokhara → Kalopani → Kagbeni → Muktinath → Tsarang → Lo Manthang → Jomsom → Pokhara → Kathmandu.

A 6–7 hour drive west through farming terraces and mountain valleys, with views of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges.
A 7-hour drive via Beni up the Kali Gandaki gorge — the world's deepest, wedged between Dhaulagiri (8,167m) and Annapurna I (8,091m) — to the scenic village of Kalopani.
A 4–5 hour drive through Ghasa and the apple-farming village of Marpha to Jomsom, then on to the sacred Muktinath temple complex and its 108 water spouts before continuing to Kagbeni.
Entering the restricted Upper Mustang area, a roughly 3-hour drive to Tsarang, a historically important village with an ancient stupa, palace and monastery, followed by a hike to Ghar Gompa — believed to be the first Tibetan Buddhist monastery, predating Samye Monastery in Tibet.
A 2–3 hour drive to the walled former capital of Lo Manthang, with a walk around the city and visits to Jampa Gompa, Thubchen Gompa and Chodey Gompa.
A full day exploring Namgyal Gompa and the ancient sky caves of Chhoser, dating back over 3,000 years and still used for sky burial in the surrounding villages.
A 6–7 hour drive back through local villages and Buddhist stupas along the Kali Gandaki to Jomsom, with time to explore the local market.
