Nepal's highest trekking peak, climbed via the remote Hinku Valley away from the busy Everest Base Camp trail. Mera Peak (6,461m) is largely non-technical but the thin summit air demands solid acclimatization — this itinerary builds in dedicated rest days plus a contingency day for weather. From the summit, four of the world's five highest mountains — Everest, Kangchenjunga, Makalu and Lhotse — are visible at once.
Kathmandu → Lukla → Paiya → Panggom → Ningsow → Chhatra Khola → Kothe → Thaknak → Khare → Mera High Camp → Mera Peak Summit → Khare → Kothe → Thuli Kharka → Lukla → Kathmandu.
Airport pickup, hotel transfer and a pre-trip discussion with your guide.
An early flight to Lukla, then a jungle trail crossing the Handi Khola and the Chutok La pass to Paiya.
A slippery trail over the Kari La pass through rhododendron and bamboo forest, with views into the Dudh Koshi valley.
Over the Panggom La pass, crossing Peseng Kharka Khola en route to Ningsow village.
Climbing to Ramailo Danda for views of Mera Peak and Salpa, before entering Makalu Barun National Park.
Following the Hinku Khola north on the main Mera Peak trail to Kothe.
Along the Hinku Khola ridge in Mera's shadow, past the 200-year-old Lungsumgba Gompa, to Thaknak.
Following the Dig Glacier moraine with views of Charpate Himal, climbing to Khare for the first close view of Mera's north face.
A day set aside for acclimatization and guided training in ice axe, harness, ascender and rope use.
A boulder-strewn climb through the Mera La pass to high camp, with views of Everest, Makalu, Cho Oyu and Lhotse's south face.
A pre-dawn summit push (6,461m) to beat the afternoon winds, with views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Kangchenjunga from the top, then a descent back to Khare.
A built-in spare day in case bad weather delays the summit attempt.
Retracing the route down to Kothe to celebrate the successful climb.
Crossing several tributaries of the Inkhu Khola on the way to Thuli Kharka.
Crossing the Zatrwa La pass (4,600m) with views of Cho Oyu and Kongde Peak, down to Lukla for the last night on the mountain.
A morning flight back to Kathmandu, with a farewell dinner celebrating the summit.
Transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward flight.
