An off-the-beaten-track trek in Nepal's remote mid-western region to Rara Lake, inside Rara National Park, reached by flights via Nepalgunj and Jumla. The route crosses several passes through pine and fir forest, including the Khali Lagna (3,550m) and Ghurchi Langa (3,450m) passes, past the former Malla-dynasty capital of Sinja to one of Nepal's largest and most tranquil freshwater lakes.
Kathmandu → Nepalgunj → Jumla → Danphe Langa → Chautha → Dhotu → Rara Lake → Ghorasingha → Sinja → Jaljala → Jumla → Nepalgunj → Kathmandu.

A scenic flight over central and western Nepal to Nepalgunj, a border town near India.

A forest descent to the Lete Gad bridge, then downstream and up to Kabra before a short climb to Chautha.

A second day around the lake and nearby hills, inside a national park home to leopard, Ghoral, musk deer, Himalayan black bear and red panda.
Past the Khatyar River, through dense forest to the southern ridge and down into Ghorasingha.
Downstream along the Sinja River to Sinja village, capital of the Malla dynasty from the 12th to 14th centuries, with its Bhagwati temple.
Over log bridges and small villages before a steep ascent to the horse-grazing meadow of Jaljala.
A forest climb to a meadow, then a steep descent past Chauri Khola back into Jumla.
Two connecting flights back to Kathmandu, as there is no direct Jumla–Kathmandu route.
A half-day guided tour of Bhaktapur and Patan Durbar Squares, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites, with free time for souvenir shopping.
Transfer to the airport to connect with your flight home.
