The overland mirror of the fly-in/drive-out circuit: this 8-day trip drives from Kathmandu across the Nepal–Tibet border at Kyirong, reaches Everest Base Camp on day three, then continues via Shigatse to Lhasa before flying (or training) out. The extended border-crossing schedule, adopted in 2018, adds a night in Gyirong Town to ease acclimatization.
Kathmandu → Syabrubesi → Kyirong → Everest Base Camp/Rongbuk → Tingri → Shigatse → Gyantse → Lhasa.

Pass the 5,000m G318 highway milestone at Lhatse, then visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, seat of the Panchen Lama.
