Opened to trekkers only in 2012, Mardi Himal remains one of the least crowded routes in the Annapurna region, served by a handful of small tea houses and homestays. The trail climbs quickly from dense forest to an open ridge with a close-up viewpoint (4,250m) below the base camps of Mardi Himal and Machhapuchhre, with scenery that shifts abruptly along the way.
