A newly popular, less-traveled route in the lower Solu Khumbu, climbing to Pikey Peak (4,067m) — the viewpoint Edmund Hillary himself said offered the best views of Everest. In nine days the trek delivers panoramas of Everest, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse and Numbur without the altitude risk of the classic Base Camp trail, passing through Sherpa, Tamang, Chhetri, Gurung and Rai villages along the way.
Kathmandu → Dhap Bazaar → Jhapre → Pikey Peak Base Camp → Pikey Peak → Jase Bhanjyang → Junbesi → Phaplu → Kathmandu.
A Himanshu Tours representative meets you at Tribhuvan International Airport and transfers you to the hotel, followed by a short trip briefing.
An 8-hour drive along the Sunkoshi River to Dhap Bazaar, through changing Nepali countryside of forests, terraced fields and rivers, with time for a walk around the local market.
The trek begins here — views of the Numbur Himal range open up near Sigane, before reaching Jhapre village, with its small monastery and stupa above a deep valley.
A climb to a grassy ridge at Bhulbhule with Everest-range views, then on past old yak houses and a long mani wall through rhododendron forest to Pikey Peak base camp.
An early climb to Pikey Peak (4,067m) for sunrise views of Everest, Kanchenjunga, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri and Langtang, then a descent — short in distance but steep — to Jase Bhanjyang.
Forest and meadow trail to Taktor for lunch, then on to Junbesi, a Sherpa/Magar/Tamang village with a Buddhist stupa and comfortable teahouses.
A descending trail along the Junbesi Khola to Phaplu, with local cuisine and a traditional Sherpa cultural evening.
A 9–10 hour drive back to Kathmandu by jeep, followed by a farewell dinner at a Nepali restaurant.
A Himanshu Tours representative drops you at the airport approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight.
