Distance note: Road and trail distances can vary according to the exact route, road conditions, construction, weather, and seasonal changes. The distances below should therefore be treated as approximate planning figures.
📍 Route: Kathmandu ➔ Chet Chet ➔ Simigau ➔ Dongang ➔Beding ➔Na ➔Tsho Rolpa ➔ Kathmandu
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, a representative from Himanshu Tours and Travels will meet you outside the airport terminal according to your flight schedule. You will be transferred to your hotel by private vehicle. After check-in, you will have time to rest and refresh. A short briefing will be provided about your Tsho Rolpa Lake Trek, including the route, trekking conditions, accommodation, packing requirements, safety precautions, and altitude considerations. If your arrival time permits, you can explore the surrounding area of Kathmandu or simply relax at the hotel.
After an early breakfast, begin the scenic drive from Kathmandu toward Chet Chet in the Dolakha district. The journey passes through Charikot and Singati, following winding mountain roads through traditional villages, terraced hillsides, forests, and river valleys. After approximately 7–8 hours of driving, reach Chet Chet, the trailhead for the trek. From Chet Chet, begin your first hike toward the beautiful Sherpa village of Simigaun. The trail climbs through stone steps and forested terrain. The ascent can feel demanding on the first day, but the relatively short walking duration allows you to enjoy the surrounding landscape. Upon reaching Simigaun, check into a local teahouse and enjoy views of the surrounding hills and mountains.
After breakfast, continue your trek deeper into the Rolwaling Valley. The trail initially descends toward the Rolwaling River before continuing through beautiful forested landscapes. You will walk through lush forests containing rhododendron, moss, ferns, and other Himalayan vegetation. The peaceful surroundings make this section of the trek particularly enjoyable. Along the route, pass through small settlements such as Surmuche and Kyalje. The trail gradually climbs as you approach Dongang. After approximately 5–6 hours of walking, arrive at Dongang, situated at around 2,790 meters. Enjoy dinner and a relaxing evening at the local teahouse.
Today's trail takes you farther into the spectacular Rolwaling Valley. After breakfast, begin a steady uphill walk following the valley and the Rolwaling River. The trail passes through beautiful forests and rugged mountain landscapes before reaching Thanding Karkha, where you can stop for lunch and rest. After lunch, continue along the riverbank toward Beding, the largest and one of the most important settlements in the Rolwaling Valley. Beding is a traditional Sherpa settlement surrounded by impressive mountain scenery. You can explore the village and observe traditional Himalayan architecture and local lifestyles. After approximately 5 hours of trekking, settle into your teahouse.
Today is a shorter but important day as you gain significant altitude. After breakfast, follow the Rolwaling River upstream toward Na Village. The trail is relatively gentle compared with the previous day's route and offers magnificent views of the surrounding mountains. As you approach Na, the landscape becomes increasingly alpine, with fewer trees and wider mountain views. Na Village, situated at approximately 4,250 meters, is a traditional high-altitude summer settlement used by local communities for grazing livestock during the warmer months. After reaching Na, settle into the lodge and spend the afternoon resting and acclimatizing. Because you will visit Tsho Rolpa the following day, it is important to take it easy, stay hydrated, and prepare for the higher-altitude excursion.
Today is the highlight of the Tsho Rolpa Lake Trek. After an early breakfast, begin your hike from Na toward the spectacular Tsho Rolpa Glacier Lake. The trail gradually climbs through a dramatic alpine landscape. As you gain altitude, the surrounding terrain becomes increasingly rugged, with glaciers, rocky slopes, snow-covered peaks, and glacial streams. After approximately 2½–3 hours of hiking, you reach Tsho Rolpa Lake, one of Nepal's largest glacial lakes. At approximately 4,580 meters, the lake is surrounded by spectacular Himalayan scenery and glacial landscapes. Spend some time exploring the area, enjoying the panoramic mountain views, and taking photographs. After lunch/rest, begin the descent back toward Na and continue onward to Beding. The return journey follows the valley trail, and after approximately 5–6 hours of total walking, you arrive back at Beding. (Altitude note: Today reaches approximately 4,580 m. Trek at a comfortable pace and follow your guide's recommendations. The itinerary may be adjusted if weather or health conditions make the planned excursion unsafe.)
After breakfast, begin your return trek from Beding toward Simigaun. You will retrace your route through the beautiful Rolwaling Valley, following the river and descending through forests. As you lose altitude, the landscape gradually changes from alpine terrain to greener forested surroundings. The trail passes through familiar settlements and forests before reaching Simigaun. After approximately 6 hours of trekking, arrive at Simigaun and check into your local lodge. Enjoy a relaxing evening after the long downhill trek.
After breakfast, begin the final section of your trek. Descend from Simigaun to Chet Chet, following the stone steps and forest trails. The walk takes approximately 2 hours. Upon reaching Chet Chet, meet your private Jeep and begin the scenic drive back toward Kathmandu. The road passes through Singati and Charikot, with beautiful views of the hills, rivers, terraced farmland, and traditional villages along the way. After approximately 7–8 hours of driving, arrive in Kathmandu. Check into your hotel and enjoy a well-deserved rest after completing your Tsho Rolpa adventure.
Today marks the end of your 9-Day Tsho Rolpa Lake Trek. After breakfast, you will have some free time depending on your flight schedule. Our representative from Himanshu Tours and Travels will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport approximately 3 hours before your scheduled international flight. You will be dropped at the airport for your onward journey, carrying unforgettable memories of the Rolwaling Valley, Tsho Rolpa Glacier Lake, Beding and Na villages, and the spectacular Himalayan landscapes.
